I am sure you are a Starbucks fan just like me and that's why you are here. I remember trying this white chocolate mocha from Starbucks and I instantly became obsessed with it. It's like indulging in both of my favorite things in a single drink.
But I want to be really honest with you. It's pricey! Especially in today's economy, and if the tariff is applied between Canada and the United States, I can only imagine how much more expensive everything will be.
So I tried to replicate the recipe, which is as delightful as the one served at Starbucks but much less expensive and far superior. I experimented with various ratios before settling on a recipe I'm sharing with you all.
I'm warning you! It's rich, creamy, and ADDICTIVE.
Let us quickly understand the steps before proceeding further.
Sr. No. | Steps |
1. | Melt white chocolate. |
2. | Prepare espresso coffee. |
3. | Combine both. |
4. | Garnish with whipped cream and serve. |
White chocolate - This is our star ingredient. Make sure you are using good and high-quality white chocolate. You will get this in a bakery section of any grocery store. Stay away from compound chocolate or the chocolate you get in a candy section of a grocery aisle. You can also use White chocolate sauce by Torani which is available on Amazon.
Espresso - Our white chocolate mocha can not be made without espresso. Use your favorite espresso if you do not have Starbucks espresso roast coffee.
Hot milk - Use full fat milk or 2% skimmed milk. I personally like to use full fat as that makes my mocha extra creamy and rich. Make sure you froth the milk before using. If you can't do that, it is fine. Just use normal hot milk.
Whipped cream - Use homemade whipped cream or store-bought. It is not going to change the taste much.
White chocolate curls - To garnish the white chocolate mocha. It is completely optional though. Please note, I have shown white chocolate disks in the picture as curls are so fragile that they will start melting. So I will make them in the end just before serving.
Milk - Replace regular milk with any non-dairy milk (such as soy milk, oat milk, or any nut milk) to turn your mocha into vegan or dairy-free.
Whipped cream - Replace regular whipped cream with non-dairy whipped cream to turn it into vegan or dairy-free.
This can be served hot or cold.
In both case, pair it with your dark chocolate fudgy brownie or tangy red velvet cheesecake brownie and enjoy your evening.
If serving cold, try to use chilled glass which will keep the mocha chilled for longer time.
I understand that, despite our best intentions, we end up with more than anyone wants to eat at the time, and we must preserve the leftovers. It happens to me all the time since I always make extra so that it is not insufficient when serving. So, if you are in the same boat, follow my tips to store the leftover white chocolate mocha.
You can store the leftover in the refrigerator or in the freezer.
Store the leftover in an airtight container and refrigerate to use it next 1 to 2 days. Add an additional layer of cling wrap for extra protection, saves the drink from fridge odors.
To freeze, pour the drink into the ice cubes and freeze until hardens. Transfer the cubes to an airtight container or freezer-friendly bag and freeze for up to 1 month.
White chocolate mocha tastes best on its own but in case if you want to add a little twist, here are some of the recommendations.
Can I make an iced white chocolate mocha? Of course. To prepare an iced white chocolate mocha, combine the white chocolate and espresso, then add ice cubes and cold milk. Garnish it with whipped cream and white chocolate curls and serve immediately.

Combine melted white chocolate with an espresso shot, pour frothed milk on top, and garnish with whipped cream. That's it. It is that simple. It's a tasty twist to traditional mocha (which uses regular chocolate). Let's get started!
Add white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave on high at 10-second intervals until the chocolate melts. Keep aside.
In a serving mug, add one shot of espresso. I have prepared mine using a French press machine. (add your favorite coffee into the mug and add hot boiling water from the top, keep it for 10 minutes and slowly presto extract the coffee)
Add melted white chocolate and stir until well combined.
Froth one cup of milk by using your preferred method.
Add this frothed milk on top of the espresso.
Garnish it with whipped cream.
Add some white chocolate curls on top. (optional).
Serve immediately.
