I like to have my cake with frosting or as a plain slice with coffee but my son always wants it with frosting. You know how kids are :), always in love with sugar :).
You know most of the frosting takes time to make. The butter needs to come to room temperature, then it involves beating the butter, covering the cake frosting takes time too. So you have to prepare in advance if you are covering the cake with frosting.
The best alternative to that is this orange glaze recipe. Super quick to make and you just need to pour it over the cake, that’s it. Isn’t it super easy?
Let’s see how this is made with detail step-by-step instructions (don’t worry, it is just 2 steps process 🙂 ).

This orange glaze recipe can be made in just 2 steps and in 2 minutes Let’s see how!
1. In a bowl, add all ingredients (1.5 cup (188 gms) icing sugar, 3 tbsp (45 ml) orange juice, 1 tsp (5 gms) orange zest).

Orange glaze – storing and freezing instructions
I would recommend to make it fresh as it just requires 2 minutes and icing sugar will change the glaze consistency (will make the glaze hard) after sometime. So it will be difficult to pour.
Any substitutes?
- Orange or lemon – You can use the same recipe and use lemon zest and lemon juice to make lemon glaze recipe.
Secret tips to make the best orange glaze every time
- Sift Icing Sugar – Icing sugar has tendency to form lumps. To make smooth orange glaze, I would recommend to sift the powdered sugar. (PS: I am using fresh icing sugar so I am not sifting the icing sugar in this recipe.)
- Use Immediately – Icing sugar makes the glaze hard so I would recommend to use it immediately once you make it.
